I have been a qualified teacher for over 27 years and have worked predominantly within the area of Special Educational Needs for the last 13 Years; this has included the role of an assistant Sendco and Sen teacher in secondary schools. I believe in the importance of ongoing professional development to facilitate up to date knowledge and practice; completing a Nasenco award has been my most recent professional focus
I have a deep understanding of the Education System and a wealth of experience teaching pupils with a variety of needs, this has included classroom teaching as well as small group and 1-1 support.  As an experienced specialist dyslexia assessor and specialist teacher I am perfectly placed to be able to advise other teachers after assessments on the best ways to progress a pupils learning. I fully understand the barriers to learning that pupils may have and the challenges they may face which makes me well placed with my experience and knowledge to suggests strategies that will help pupils attain. It is so important that all pupils are given the best opportunities to achieve their full potential. I feel privileged to have already worked with many Sendco’s across Leicestershire, providing advice and support for teaching and learning.
The opportunity to work and collaborate with the Forest Way Teaching Alliance is an exciting opportunity for me and I look forward to  being able to help and support many more teachers and pupils across Leicestershire.
